Mary’s career started with sign painting and children’s graphics in the 70s. Two decades of work in education and biblical illustration for national publications paved the way for her career in children’s illustration. House portraits became something of a cottage industry when she began doing them in 1991.
Now her career, after spanning three decades in children’s illustration, public demonstrations, and customized works of art, includes illustration, her own books and books she illustrates for other authors, as well as school and university presentations. Every aspect of the work feels, she says, “like getting paid to eat cake.”
